About the teacher
Meet Mike Vuu
IvyfordMath is built by one maths teacher with a simple conviction: mathematics is a way of reasoning anyone can learn to enjoy.
Mike Vuu holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Oxford. He is the founder of Oxford Academy and the creator of IvyfordMath, where he hand-curates every question and runs every contest himself.
After years of teaching, Mike kept meeting students who had been taught to fear maths — able to follow steps, but never shown the why underneath them. IvyfordMath is his answer: a place where the reasoning is the game, where a worked solution appears on every mistake, and where steady effort is rewarded the way it deserves to be.
His teaching philosophy in one line: mathematics is not a set of procedures to memorise — it is a way of reasoning, and getting stuck is the beginning of learning, not the end of it.
